2016 has approached us, which can mean only one thing: New Year’s resolutions are here to be made. In addition to the popular “get into shape” and “learn a new skill” resolutions, why not pledge to give back to your community? Check out these three simple ways you can make a difference in your Colorado community in the new year.
Organize a neighborhood sale & food drive
Get your neighbors together for a group yard sale with a twist–it’s also a food drive! Offer a discount to buyers for donating canned food, or even “price” some of the sale items with numbers of cans of food. Not only will you and your neighbors manage to unclutter your basements and closets, but you’ll collect a heap of cans to take to your local food pantry.
Volunteer for Make-a-Wish Colorado
Help make sick kids’ dreams come true by lending your skills to the Colorado chapter of the renowned Make-a-Wish Foundation. Volunteers with Make-a-Wish Colorado work to organize events, support fundraising, perform office tasks, work directly with families and children and more. If you don’t have the time to actually volunteer, you can also make a donation, host a fundraiser, sponsor a child and/or support wish-granting through a variety of other means (detailed on their website).
Donate or fundraise for another Colorado charity
Sign up and easily connect with Colorado charities via ColoradoGives. Once you’ve found an organization you’re passionate about, you can make a donation or sign up to host a fundraiser in your community. You can even set up a fundraiser web page to track your progress!
You should also resolve to make sure you’ve got sufficient insurance coverage for 2016! Contact Alliance Insurance Services to get started.
